Dr. Jessica Karll Selected as New Central Elementary Principal

The Francis Howell School District has announced that Dr. Jessica Karll has been selected as the new principal at Central Elementary School, effective July 1, 2020. Dr. Karll is currently the assistant principal at McKelvey Elementary School in the Parkway School District. She succeeds Principal Stacey King, who had announced her retirement after the current school year.

Dr. Karll is passionate about providing students with a quality, accelerated education, and all teachers with instructional support, and she works to build relationships with all stakeholders. “I am humbled and honored to join such a passionate school community full of many traditions! I can’t wait to begin building relationships and serving alongside everyone to support our students, staff, and families. I look forward to working together as a school family to meet the needs of each and every student at Central.”

Dr. Karll began her career in education as a third grade teacher at Prairie View Elementary in the Wentzville School District. In 2010 she moved to Discovery Ridge Elementary, and in 2015 she was selected as the school’s administrative intern. She has served as the assistant principal at McKelvey Elementary School since 2016.

She has taken an active leadership role in Parkway and served on the district’s mental health task force, special education action team, and the Parkway diversity in action committee. Dr. Karll is a Milken Educator Award Winner, an Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award Winner, and was the Wentzville School District Teacher of the Year for 2011-2012.

Dr. Karll has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, a master’s degree in both special reading and school administration from Lindenwood University, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Maryville University.
